Ich bin sehr interessiert an diesem Film, aber frage mich, mit was die Laufzeit so alles gefüllt werden wird - ich mein, es gibt genug, aber der Film soll ja im Mainstream Geld machen. Theory of Everything (Hawking) und Imitation Game (Turing) waren ja beides Schnulzen in denen anderer Kram nur peripher behandelt wurde; scheint ein Muster in modernen Biopics zu sein.
Tolkiens Wortgefechte gegen die Nazis sind lustig.
In 1938 kommunizierte er mit einem deutschen Verleger, weil Der Hobbit auf Deutsch erscheinen sollte. Er wurde dann darum geben, erst seine Abstammung klarzustellen. Seine Antwort:

I am not of Aryan extraction: that is Indo-Iranian; as far as I am aware none of my ancestors spoke Hindustani, Persian, Gypsy, or any related dialects. But if I am to understand that you are enquiring whether I am of Jewish origin, I can only reply that I regret that I appear to have no ancestors of that gifted people. My great-great-grandfather came to England in the eighteenth century from Germany: the main part of my descent is therefore purely English, and I am an English subject - which should be sufficient. Da sind einige fiese Burner drin. Tolkien hatte offensichtlich auch eine wahnsinnige Gewalt über die englische Sprache.
Lustig ist aber auch, dass so ne Antwort heuzutage eindeutig als Cringe- und Fedora-Material verstanden werden würde. Bisschen schade.
Auch immer n interessantes TIL; Tolkien, Hitler und Anne Franks Vater waren 1916 alle als Fußsoldaten bei der Schlacht an der Somme anwesend.
